Life Hurts

"...To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears...".

Each time we pray, our souls become imbued with the intentions behind each word. The common modes of prayer include internal (mental prayer, journaling, visualizations), external (Mass, intercessory prayer, etc.), and experiential - or, our lives as a living prayer, for experience is the greatest teacher.

As children, we are pure beings with no mark or blemish, ready for a full and abundant life. We have a holy curiosity that drives us to explore, express, create, and to love and be loved... all freely without a second thought.

This is one reason why baptism at birth is so crucial. The infant can't choose the most profitably good thing for their soul which is why their family ought do it for them.

However, even for those not Baptized at birth, or even in the Catholic Church, the gentle tug of the Holy Spirit remains ever present. He sustains, mends, and draws us out of our caves (think Plato's Allegory of the Cave), to include shattering our limiting beliefs which likely were impressed upon many of us by wounded people (family, friends, lovers, etc.), faulty institutions (school, church, work, etc.), and any external expectations that we internalize as a coping mechanism to make sense of existence in this backwards ass world (the 'American Dream', consumerism, politics, etc.).

Dang dude, feels like the matrix out there!!!

It basically is. And it sucks because it takes a lifetime for some souls to wake up and remember their divine purpose. And that's okay, because our suffering gives substance to our lives.

Thankfully,

1280 - Baptism imprints on the soul an indelible spiritual sign, the character, which consecrates the baptized person for Christian worship. Because of the character Baptism cannot be repeated (cf. DS 1609 and DS 1624).

This is also why I don't like the mantra "you are your brand". Nope! Rather, you are branded by the Lord Jesus Christ, and He is the source of all the good things in your life, to include your artistic genius. To maximally maximize mystical miracles, we must and ought cooperate with His freely given Graces so we can get and stay on God's program for our lives.

By the the way, thank God for the Sacrament of Reconciliation!

Okay...soooo?

Yeah, my bad. That was kind of preachy. Also...peachy.

Look, the ultimate goal is heaven. And, for artists, one of the ways for us to get there is to be sanctified conduits in and through our craft.

This means co-operating with God so His Dream may be birthed through us via Co-Creation. And no - you don't need to trip balls on Ayahuasca to get there or rely on faith alone, since we are called to both pray AND work hard.

Memento Mori Much?

Haha, yeah. We ought to remember our deaths because we're all going to die eventually.

What matters most between now and then is how well we love each other and how well we suffer.

So, let's take care of one another during this nomadic sojourn in this life, if only because...

Life hurts.

Sincerely in Christ,
